YIN YOGA, THE PRACTICE OF THE HEART
An intangible, magical experience.
The first time I practiced Yin Yoga,
I barely made it through the class! My body was restless on the mat which edges framed and accentuated my discomfort. The silence in-between teacher’s cues seemed endless, and the shapes my body was guided into – an abandoned foreign land. The rounding Moon smiled at me from the sky as if she knew to which degree this practice would change me. I could have filled a bucket of tears after that class if I'd decided to contain them.
But, what is YIN YOGA?
YIN & YANG
Your physical body and your impulse to take action and exercise musculature are manifestations of the Yang energy. Yin, rooted in formlessness, demands stillness and quiet so we can connect with the breath, the intrinsic web of our energy channels, and our psychic mind.
The physical practice of Yin Yoga includes seated postures held for a minimum of 3 minutes and breathwork. The way asana is employed in each class helps strengthen the plastic tissues of the body: ligaments, joints, and deep fascial network. The asana practice also stimulates the main meridian channels through which flows Chi or Prana - our life force. With the help of guided meditation, visualization, and trust, we can access the hidden realm of mind and heart.
This startling journey to ourselves presents greater benefits than strength, balance, and flexibility, re-establishing our primordial wholeness in which Yin or the lunar part (encompassing our emotional and psychic world) is inseparable from Yang or the solar counterpart (manifesting through our vitality and personality).

We'll travel through the layers of the energetic body to build relationships with celestial bodies, the process I call Applied Astrology. We hold the whole universe between our inhalations. But, we need space and silence to hear and understand cosmic vibrations.
