and the beginning of the Eclipse Season
Hello, dear friends and stargazers,
We are officially in the eclipse season! I hope it will be as transparent as possible and less turbulent. We are in for a wild ride this October. I doubt my Libras would like to hear this: The balance and harmony they strive for are put to the test.
On September 14, the same day Mercury had stationed direct, we entered the energetic whirlpool of the eclipse season. These energies will fade out a week or two after the Lunar eclipse in Taurus on October 30. Eclipses occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align so that either the Sun's light is partially or entirely blocked by the Moon or the Earth's shadow is cast upon the Moon. In astrology, eclipses signify powerful and transformative events or series of events often presented as beginnings and endings in various aspects of one's life. Eclipses are also amplifiers for the energy of the signs and planets involved in the event.
Events around the eclipses bring out meaningful insights, which cause a shift in consciousness. We change because of what we experience and learn. Eclipses (especially solar) are like resets that sometimes include a short period of darkness and loneliness before a new beginning. Lunar eclipses are like a release of patterns and attachments that no longer serve our growth. As the astrologer Rebecca Gordon puts it, eclipses are the times when the Universe makes corrections and stirs us towards our destined path. Most of what happens during eclipses has a reason; we need time to understand it.
In the next 18 months, eclipses will be repeating in the signs of Libra and Aries, pushing us to rethink and restructure our relationships. When I say relationship, do not think only about romantic relationships. This is the time to review and reform any relationship that doesn't work with your current identity: your relationship with time, food, health, money, work, home, fears, technology, art, and the list goes on indefinitely. The process of rethinking and reforming the relationships in question will not open and close during the current eclipse season – it will unfold over the next 18 months. This October, we are only figuring out what needs to be worked on. The essential tools to navigate the season are kindness for yourself and others and patience. Yes, fire signs, patience!
Today, we can see the full Moon in Aries shining in the sky, bringing up an emotional intensity. Maybe you are more impulsive than usual, more passionate, more desirous?
Aries is bold and assertive, which may encourage us to communicate our needs and desires authentically and clearly. Ruled by Mars, the planet of action and energy, this full Moon may inspire us to pursue our dreams and goals with courage and enthusiasm. Aries energy is impulsive and prone to conflicts, so be aware of its quick temper. On the other end of this lunation, we have the Sun in Libra that highlights the balance between one's needs and desires and the needs and desires of others. Sometimes, we can't ask for everything we want; sometimes, we need to put the needs of others first – and that is okay when we trust that our needs will be fulfilled, too.
I want to pose a few questions to help you embrace and work with the energy of the Aries full Moon. I encourage you to take some time tonight, silence your phone, maybe light a candle, and answer these questions on paper:
When I strip myself of all the different roles I take during the day (daughter, sister, partner, mother, teacher, student, business owner, employee, etc.), what words do I use to describe my identity? Identity is not roles you have in life but who you are when you are alone with yourself.
Once you answered the first question, be brutally honest in answering this: do I like the person described on the paper? Do I enjoy hanging out with myself? Would I take a month-long vacation to a quiet and remote place and still be happy?
If the answer to question(s) number two is yes, now you are answering this one: what do I value and expect from others in relationships? If your answer to the second question is not an exuberant yes, you will need to spend some time in the following months figuring out who you are and what you need before you even dare to question your relationships. The stability of our relationships is rooted in a strong sense of identity.
And the last question for all is, what relationship(s) does (according to what I feel in my body) need to change?
Remember, you will only open Pandora's box next month. The process of change will take time. Astrology is a beautiful tool for navigating transformation. You are not alone. I'm excited to support you on your journey.
